Icebergs on the beach at Jökulsárlón

Glass for a day

The ice sheet of the Vatnajökull glacier in Iceland flows into a lake. Huge chuncks of ice break from the glacier and float in the lake Jökulsárlón. Gradually these icebergs will be swept into the Atlantic Ocean and will be swept on the lava beach at high tide. De melting icebergs have the most fantastic glassy forms that interact beautifully with the light of the rising sun. Over time these icebergs will be swept into the sea again and the beach will change appearance, with new icebergs on its shores.
