Glideslope

A kittywake is making a spot landing, landing gear out. The deep blue colour of the iceberg in the background, I think, makes the photograph extra special. It contrasts nicely with the white and yellow of the birds, that is true. But can you imagine how old this chunk of ice must be? It takes a remarkable density for ice to appear blue, so it must have been sitting somewhere down a glacier for quite a long time.
